Welcome to the Natural Sciences & Mathematics Department
The Natural Sciences & Mathematics Department offers a Biology degree and minors in Biology and Chemistry that is suitable for students’ preparation for a host of careers in science, research, medicine and technology. While learning the fundamental principles of science and mathematics students are challenged to integrate their field with their faith. They learn that science and mathematics do not disprove the existence of God, but are integrated tools used to explore His Magnificent Creation. As a Biology major, students learn to use science and mathematics as a way to understand the complex biological world, and then use this knowledge in ethical ways to benefit humankind and bring Glory to God.
While small, the department’s offerings have broad application in many fields because students develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills that are valuable in a variety of professional job markets and graduate programs. Students considering a career the medical field will find that the Biology major will prepare them for professional graduate programs in medicine (M.D., DO and PA), pharmacy, and dentistry, to name a few. Beyond medicine, a Biology degree prepares students for a diverse array of careers, including Research Technician, Environmental Specialist, Pharmaceutical Sales Representative, Occupational Health and Safety Specialist, High School teacher, Quality Control Technician, Food Science Technician, and many other career choices. Some may also find the Chemistry minor useful for their preparation for these graduate studies.
Our primary goal is to prepare students to develop the skills necessary to integrate their faith with their chosen career in faithful service to our Creator.
Welcome to the Natural Sciences & Mathematics Department; we have fun down to a science!
