Pre-Medicine Study - Toccoa Falls College | The Christian College of Georgia

Toccoa Falls College’s Pre-Med plan is a selection of courses designed to meet the prerequisite requirements of most medical schools. Medical schools do not specify one particular major over another, but a TFC major should be selected that will best complement the medical career of the student’s choice. Most students pursue our Biology program, which offers one-on-one advising to ensure that the student will meet the requirements for entrance to their intended graduate medical school. The Biology program offers specific concentrations in Public Health and Pre-Professional Biology, however students can also pursue a basic degree in Biology, with independent study courses in more interest-specific fields. This program is designed to prepare students for medical school, veterinary school, pharmacy school, or graduate work in Biology. TFC also has an articulation agreement with Life University’s Chiropractic Program whereby if a student completes 90 hours of core and science courses, he or she may be admitted to the Doctor of Chiropractic program.

“It is easy to say that the relationships and the opportunities that I had at TFC aided my pursuit to becoming a doctor. It consisted of the perfect size, location, and environment for me to succeed. The size of my classes allowed to have close, meaningful relationships with my professors, who were all more than willing to explain difficult concepts in biology. They went even beyond that; taking personal time to prepare me for post graduate admissions interviews and arranging summer research projects so that I would have a complete, well-rounded resume. The student body was close-knit and students would not put others down just to see themselves achieve. Everyone wanted to see each other do well, and so test prep material and helpful advice was free flowing. Lastly, the community was very receptive. During my time in Toccoa, I shadowed at Stephens County Hospital, volunteered at the Open Arms Clinic, and worked at Maddox Drugs. The people I met were friendly and actively sought to help me. Overall, I cannot emphasize how much Toccoa Falls College means to me. Some of my fondest memories and greatest friends were made there. If anyone is looking for a small community of genuine people, TFC is the perfect place for them.”

The Pre-Med program at TFC can prepare students for a range of fields including, but not limited to, Physician/Physician's Assistant, Dentist/Dental Hygienist, Physical Therapist, Veterinarian, Medical Research, Psychiatrist, and more.
