Toccoa Falls, Ga. (May 14, 2024) — Toccoa Falls College is honored to recognize Dr. Brenna Vickers, Professor of Counseling, as the 2024 recipient of the Wade Distinguished Scholar faculty award. Since joining the faculty at TFC in 2013, Dr. Vickers has demonstrated exceptional distinction in teaching, teaching innovation, and leadership for both the college and the community.

In the classroom, Dr. Vickers consistently receives exemplary student evaluations, and she is known for creative innovation in the classroom. For example, she frequently uses focused field trips and community partnerships in several classes to provide experiential learning opportunities for students. Dr. Vickers maintains a visible leadership presence on campus, serving as the Chair of the Counseling Psychology Department, helping to launch a graduate program in Marriage and Family Therapy, and giving oversight and administration to the department’s first Study Abroad trip scheduled for the summer of 2024.

Outside of TFC, Dr. Vickers serves on the Board of Directors for the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA) and serves on several national denominational committees. Dr. Vickers’s most recent scholarly endeavor was serving as a coordinating editor of a Devotional Bible for the C&MA’s Refugee and Immigrant Network Project. In that capacity, she was able to include TFC faculty and students among the contributors.

Whether through engaging students in the classroom or modeling leadership in the campus community, Dr. Vickers embodies the mission of TFC to develop character with intellect.
