The Frances Wood Wilson Foundation recently awarded a grant of $10,000 to Toccoa Falls College to be used toward development of the Toccoa Falls College Museum.  The Frances Wood Wilson Foundation was established in 1954 and is located in Tucker, Georgia.  The Foundation provides grants to help in funding programs and institutions involved in child welfare, religious, civic, health or educational activities.

In 2018, the President’s Cabinet of Toccoa Falls College determined that the Founder’s home on campus, which overlooks the historic and beautiful Toccoa Falls, should be designated as The Toccoa Falls College Museum (Phase I), and approved the construction of the College Archives Annex (Phase II).  The Founder’s home, built in the year that Toccoa Falls College began (1911), had more recently served as the Forrest Guest Cottage (1982-2018).

The grant is being used to help launch the opening of the museum.  Specifically, this includes refinishing of the first floor thus allowing for the presentation of the first floor displays. In addition, it is being used to purchase bookcase units, equipment and supplies to complete the central Presentation Room. This is a great step toward opening of the museum later this year and Toccoa Falls College is grateful for the support of the Frances Wood Wilson Foundation.

To date the Forrest Guest Cottage has been refurbished and also equipped with museum quality temperature and humidity control.  Following the refinishing of the hardwood floors, the Museum will be ready to incorporate the College’s extensive collection of artifacts and institutional memory from our 113 year history.

The mission of Toccoa Falls College is to cultivate a uniquely Christian learning community that integrates the pursuit of truth with godly character to produce graduates prepared both personally and professionally for service.  The Toccoa Falls College Museum and Archives serve as the institutional memory of Toccoa Falls College and play an integral role in the management of the institution’s historical information resources in all media and formats.  To fulfill responsibilities of that role, the Museum and Archives identifies, acquires, and maintains records of enduring value that chronicle the development of Toccoa Falls College and ensure its continued existence.

Toccoa Falls College is blessed by the Foundation’s generous support and looks forward to sharing the impact of this grant, not only for the TFC community, but also for the educational and civic role the Museum will play throughout Stephens County and our northeast Georgia region.
