TFC Holds Celebratory Note Burning
Toccoa Falls, Ga. (October 15, 2025) – Toccoa Falls College held a celebratory Note Burning on October 9th, commemorating becoming a debt-free institution. Board members, alumni, faculty, and staff joined together to celebrate this outstanding achievement in the Silvernail Garden.
Dr. Desmond Ikegwuonu, Associate Professor of Music and Worship Arts, offered beautiful piano accompaniment as the crisp fall air and picturesque mountains created a serene and meaningful setting for the symbolic occasion. Reflecting on the freedom from financial burden and the faithfulness of God, President Dr. Bob Myers stated, “We are here to commemorate breaking free of debt, our thankfulness to Christ and all that He has done for TFC.”
Board of Trustees Chair Janet Webb, former Chair John Allen, and President Dr. Bob Myers each placed a copied page of the loan note into the fire, symbolizing that the debt has been resolved through the efforts and generous financial sacrifices of the community.

Concluding the ceremony, all in attendance were singing in unison a faithful proclamation of gratitude from the hymn “To God Be the Glory:”
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory, great things He hath done.
Lyrics written well over a century ago encompass the continued mission and heart of the college, as TFC looks forward to the future and operates as a debt-free institution.
