Rainwater Named As Teacher Education Chair

Dr. Angela Rainwater has taken the helm as Department Chair of Teacher Education. In her second year as Associate Professor of Teacher Education at TFC and her twenty-first year working with public schools in neighboring counties, Angie brings a wealth of familiarity to this leadership position.

Dr. Rainwater holds the B.S. in Elementary Education from Georgia State University, the M.A. and Ed.S. from Piedmont College, and the Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership from the University of Georgia. She also maintains Georgia state certification in early childhood and gifted in-field education. With a dissertation focusing on coaching approaches to teacher development, she has served as a professional education coach in support and intervention programming. She has also been a public advocate against child abuse, working at the community level in prevention programs.  

The Teacher Education program at TFC has majors in early childhood and middle grades education, as well as secondary education in Biology, Chemistry, English, and History. The program has been successfully employing the new edTPA training platform for the state of Georgia, seeing 100% of TFC students earned a passing grade on the qualifying examination in its first year.
