Fall 2024 Applications Open

The Office of Admissions at Toccoa Falls College recently announced that admission applications for on-campus residential students have officially opened for Fall 2024!

The college search and decision can often feel like an overwhelming process for many students and their families. One of the best ways to reduce stress for students during their senior year of high school is to begin the search earlier. This is one of the many reasons that TFC opened applications for Fall 2024 students. Below are some additional tips for high school students as they begin the college search and apply to colleges.

Visit Campus

Campus visits allow students to discover what they want and need in a college or university. A website or informational booklet can only show so much about a college, but a campus visit is an inside look into what makes each college unique. Apply Early

A second way that high school students can reduce the college admissions stress is to submit their applications early! Applying early gives students more time to work out the details of higher education like finances, housing, and class schedules. With many colleges being test optional, including TFC, applying early has never been easier because test scores are not required to be accepted! Recently, TFC Online Admissions Counselor, Sara Rowland, shared some of her expert admissions advice for Study.com’s Scholarship Guide.  Below are her admissions tips:

What is the best way to learn about campus/college culture before attending college?

Schedule a tour! This will allow you to have the chance to get a glance of campus. Additionally, look to see if the college is hosting on campus events for future students. This allows you to see what campus, dorms, courses, community, and more look like!

What aspects of a college should prospective students consider when trying to decide where to apply?

It is important to consider costs, programs, clubs (if on-campus), campus-life, and class sizes when deciding on where to apply. Each of these aspects of a college will have a major impact on your time at college!

How can students write a personal statement or college essay that makes them stand out?

Double check grammar and punctuation! It is difficult for us to read through essays when words are spelt wrong or they have run-on sentences. To stand out, be honest in what you are writing and make sure it is clear and concise.

What questions are important for students to ask admission counselors?

You can ask your admissions counselors anything about the school! If we don’t know the answer, we will make sure to find someone who can. Some important questions to ask are about costs of tuition, how classes are set up (especially if online), how many transfer credits you have, how big classes are going to be, and their advice on how to handle the transition to college.
