Toccoa Falls College is honored to recognize Dr. Kevin Burris, Professor of Bible and Greek, as the 2021 recipient of the Vulcan Teaching Excellence Award.

Since coming to TFC in 2007, Dr. Burris has earned a reputation among students as a professor who both challenges their thinking and cares deeply for their well-being.  He has pastored or served on pastoral staff of several churches and brings that wealth of ministry experience to the classroom. Dr. Burris’s maintains a visible leadership presence on campus, serving as the Chair of the Bible and Theology Department, co-leading a Barnabas Group, and consistently giving oversight and administration to Study Abroad trips to Israel and Greece/Italy. In the classroom, Dr. Burris receives consistently high student evaluations, and he is known for creative innovation in the classroom. For example, in a course on Leviticus and Hebrews, students recreate the Feast of Tabernacles by camping out together in their own “tabernacles” and re-enacting the Day of Atonement celebrations. Whether through engaging students in the classroom or modeling leadership in the campus community, Dr. Burris embodies the mission of TFC to develop both character and intellect.
