Dr. Desmond Ikegwuonu Honored with 2026 Vulcan Teaching Excellence Award
Toccoa Falls, Ga. (May 13, 2026) – Toccoa Falls College is proud to announce that Dr. Desmond Ikegwuonu, Music Department Chair and Associate Professor of Music and Worship, has been named the 2026 Vulcan Teaching Excellence Award recipient.

Dr. Ikegwuonu’s scholarly and creative output is exceptional, including recent music releases, compositions, performances, productions, collaborations, and presentations. In particular, his innovation in music technology and course redesign has revitalized our music technology curriculum, including upgrades to our music tech labs. Beyond the classroom, he actively collaborates across campus. He provides students with unique, career-shaping opportunities, such as participating in music production projects alongside industry-leading professionals, including a three-time Grammy Award-winning mastering engineer. Three different titles featuring our students have been released within the past 16 months.
Dr. Kieran Clements, Vice President for Academic Affairs, states, “Dr. Ikegwuonu’s leadership embodies innovative pedagogy and excellence in teaching, firmly rooted in a biblical worldview. Whether through engaging students in the classroom or modeling leadership in the campus community, Dr. Ikegwuonu embodies the mission of TFC to develop both character and intellect.”
The Vulcan Materials Company Teaching Excellence Award is a prestigious award presented annually to outstanding faculty members from select member campuses of the Georgia Independent College Association. It recognizes and celebrates professors who demonstrate excellence in teaching and provide leadership and support in other areas of campus life.
