Dr. Vena wins awardOn May 7th, Toccoa Falls College presented several faculty and staff members with various awards in recognition for their excellence and service to the college. Once such award was the Wade Award for Teaching and Scholarship, sponsored by long time educator and former Board of Trustee member, Dr. Thomas Wade. This year’s award was presented to Dr. Chris Vena, Dean of the School of Christian Ministry.  Dr. Vena exemplifies excellence in theological scholarship, dialogical pedagogy, and organizational service.

As a theological scholar, he has presented at the American Academy of Religion Annual Meeting and published several articles and a book chapter on Creation Care. His skill in guiding dialogue is demonstrated daily in his classes, weekly as he meets with students, and annually as he co-coordinates TFC’s New Student Orientation. He chairs the Alliance Student Loan Repayment Program, serves on Canada’s C&MA Creation Care Theological Working Group, chairs TFC’s Bible and Theology Department and TFC’s Curriculum Committee. On June 1, he becomes the Dean of the School of Christian Ministries. Student say it best. “Dr. Vena is an excellent teacher who cares on a personal level about his students and their intellectual and spiritual growth. He guides class discussions that encourage students to think logically through their beliefs.”

TFC is proud to have Dr. Vena as a member of its faculty.
