Worship Ensemble
Worship Teams regularly serve our campus community by leading corporate worship for our weekly chapel services and campus events. Students get the opportunity to grow as musical theologians embracing liturgical excellence for the edification of the campus community. Through music, production, leadership, and a wide-ranging repertoire, students get to use and grow their gifts as they facilitate worship for the TFC community. Membership is by audition and is open to students of any major.
Concert Band
The TFC Concert Band performs a wide variety of wind literature and is open to students from across campus, staff and faculty, and talented musicians from the community. Challenge yourself to sharpen your instrumental skills with other players passionate about music-making with excellence while focusing on giving God your best. Each year, the Concert Band is involved in Homecoming activities such as the Alumni Hymn-Sing Festival, the Christmas at Toccoa Falls Concert, and the Spring Music Department Concert, and has opportunities to perform additional concerts and events both on and off campus throughout the year. The Band has toured and recorded. TFC has excellent facilities, a dedicated band room, and a growing collection of school-owned instruments. Our 1500-seat Grace Alford Performance Hall is the home of the Toccoa Symphony, and talented students can audition to be a part of this professional ensemble.
Jazz Band
TFC students can be a part of the TFC Jazz Band, whose repertoire encompasses music from the Big Band and swing eras up to modern and current works. Improvisation is a foundational aspect of jazz, and members will be featured in solos displaying their creativity and encouraged to develop this aspect of their skill and musicality. Jazz Band can be a larger format or a smaller combo based on enrollment. There are many opportunities for concerts on and off campus— the City of Toccoa Harvest Festival, Homecoming, Christmas, and Spring Concert. TFC is privileged to have a local, professional ensemble, Toccoa Jazz, in residence. Talented students are encouraged to audition for this fine group as they advance.
Chamber Ensembles
Based on student interest and enrollment, various chamber ensembles are available. Typical groupings include String Quartet, Wind Quintet, Brass Quintet, Percussion Ensemble, Flute Ensemble, Saxophone Quartet, Woodwind Ensemble, Trombone Ensemble, Brass Choir, and others. These smaller groups can play in recitals, churches, and TFC concerts. Past groups have toured, including both nationally and internationally, such as the TFC Brass’s tour of Peru.
College Choir
The Toccoa Falls College Choir has existed for over 100 years and was formed in the institution’s early days. The choir has toured in many parts of the United States and worldwide, performing sacred music concerts in churches, schools, and community venues. Selected choir members have performed at Carnegie Hall numerous times and provided concert ministries in Hong Kong, Thailand, South Korea, Israel, Germany, Poland, and Bulgaria. The choir experience includes an all-expense-paid annual spring tour which includes worship concert performances in churches and schools across the country.
Singing Men
The TFC Singing Men is an ensemble specializing in performing choral music for men’s voices (TTBB). This choir includes singers from the TFC student body, faculty, staff, and men from the surrounding community. Rehearsals occur one evening per week, and the choir performs for seasonal concerts, churches, and community events.
Handbell Choir
Handbell Choir is open to both music students and non-music majors. It rehearses twice weekly and focuses on literature suitable for church and school. TFC Handbell Choir performs for the annual Christmas and Spring Concerts and general recitals and has opportunities to minister in the community and local churches.
