Family and Children’s Ministries

The mission of the Family and Children’s Ministries major is to cultivate learning that integrates the pursuit of truth with godly character and to equip students with knowledge and skill sets necessary for culturally competent professionals serving families and children in church, faith-based organizations, and in society.


Career Opportunities

Family & Children’s Ministries majors will be equipped to serve families and children in many different sections of society.

In faith-based organizations and greater society:

  • Division of Family & Children’s Services
  • Community Family Resource Centers
  • Urban family-care centers (i.e., transitional housing, job training, family counseling)
  • Working with refugee families
  • Adoption agencies
  • Orphanages
  • Child and Family Advocacy
  • Serving at-risk children/adolescents and their families

In a church:

  • Children’s Pastor
  • Director of Christian Education
  • Pastor of Family Life
  • Young (Emerging) Adult Ministry Leader
  • Serving single mothers/parents
  • Director of Special Programs in Urban churches providing services to children (i.e., after school, camp programs)
