Homecoming 2017

Friday, October 6

9:00 a.m. Homecoming Golf Tournament – The Links at Lake Toccoa. The 18-hole tournament is a two-person Lauderdale format with a shotgun start. Fee includes green fees, cart, golf balls, TFC logo towel and tees, lunch at Ping’s Grill, and prizes. Cost is $40.00 per golfer.

 

1:00 – 5:30 p.m. – On-Site Registration – Gate Cottage

 

2:00 p.m. – Fetterman School of Nursing Tour — center of campus. You will be able to meet members of the first class of TFC nursing students, the nursing faculty, and tour this beautiful facility.

 

3:00 – 5:00 p.m. – Valley Farm Tours — Valley Farm exists to teach students ways to practice sustainable lifestyles, plan sustainable development with community leaders, and establish locally appropriate communities of faith among all people, including unreached people groups. Led by Tim Penland, this tour will visit the 82 animals that call Valley Farm home!

 

4:00 p.m. – Handbell Mini-Concert with Christine Trexler Anderson (HS 1967) – Grace Chapel. The solo handbell artistry of Christine Anderson is world-renowned, with finesse, grace, and dexterity.  Her music, however is simply a tool for her tremendous witness for Christ and her deep love for the Lord.

 

5:00 p.m. – Women’s Varsity Soccer Game – TFC vs. Bob Jones University

 

5:00-6:30 p.m. – Homecoming Tailgate Picnic – Soccer and Baseball Pavilion. Now in its 12th year, this event has become an annual tradition. Good food for alumni, students, guests, and the entire Toccoa Falls family. We will have a tent set up with tables and chairs for all to enjoy! Cost is $12.00 for adults and $7.00 for children ages 6-10. (ages 5 & under eat free)

 

7:00 p.m. – Men’s Varsity Soccer Game – TFC vs. Pensacola Christian College

 

8:30 – 10:00 p.m. – TFC Sweets & Treats – Tent on field next to Lois DeLany Athletic Center. Join us for this oh so yummy and fun event! We will have many sweet & treats to choose from including candy, kettle corn, root beer and coke floats, boiled peanuts, and a favorite from last year . . . fried Oreos! You don’t want to miss this sweet event of fellowship.

 

Saturday, October 7

8:00 a.m. – Homecoming 3K – Gate Cottage. This year is the 25th annual run (or walk) through campus. This year’s race is sponsored by Toccoa Falls for Life. Each day, 3,000 lives end through abortion in the United States alone. Come run a 3K to remember the unborn and support those trying to save these precious lives! Cost is $25 for adults; $15 for students (with ID); and $10 for children (age 10 & under) and includes a Toccoa Falls for Life t-shirt.

 

9:00 a.m. – Alumni Breakfast – Lois DeLany Athletic Center. Reunion classes ending in “2” and “7” will be recognized and alumni awards will be presented. Cost is $12.00 for adults and $7.00 for children ages 6-10. (Ages 5 & under eat free)  There will be coffee available in the lobby at 8:00 a.m., doors open at 8:45 am.

 

10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. – Gathany Museum Open – the museum houses displays of mounted mammals, birds, prehistoric fossils, and more, from Leon and Rachel Gathany’s collections.

 

11:00 a.m. – Alumni Soccer Game – This is an opportunity for former, current, and future Screaming Eagles to come together around the game they love. A small-sided soccer tournament will take place with all who are able to attend. Teams will be divided based upon registration.

 

11:00 a.m. – Among the Things That Were . . . Legends of Taucoe and Early Toccoa Falls – Old Power Plant. Join TFC Registrar and Archivist Kelly Vickers as he shares stories from our past here at the Falls. From Cherokee lore and legend to the early pioneers, and to the early days of Toccoa Falls College, Kelly will share some vignettes of our great heritage and of the deeper roots of the tree God has planted. The 45 minute tour begins at the Old Power Plant and ends at the Falls.

 

11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. – Campus Lunch Buffet – Dining Hall in Parkerson Student Center. Dining hall options include a grill station, salad bar, soup, deli sandwiches, pizza, dessert, and drinks. Cost is $7.50 per person. (Ages 5 & under eat free)

 

12:15 p.m. – High School/Academy Reunion Luncheon – President’s Dining Room. You will go through the line in the dining hall and then join former classmates for an “open mic” time. Always a favorite! Cost is $7.50 per person.

 

1:00 p.m. – Duck Race – Meet at the bridge by Gate Cottage. Come cheer your duck to victory as it races down the creek. Prizes will be awarded. Cost $1.00 per duck.

 

2:00 pm – Remembrance Service – Toccoa Falls.   President Myers and the Toccoa Falls College community invite you to attend a special remembrance service to commemorate
the 40th anniversary of the dam break.

 

3:00 p.m. – Women’s Varsity Volleyball Game – Lois DeLany Athletic Center. TFC vs. Hiwassee College. The senior volleyball players will be honored during the match.

 

4:30-6:15 p.m. – Family Fun Night – Tent on field next to Lois DeLany Athletic Center. Dinner, inflatables, lawn games, and more! Cost is $5.00 for ages 6 & up and $2.50 for ages 5 & under.

6:30 p.m. – Alumni Basketball Game – Lois DeLany Athletic Center. See our varsity athletes take on former players. Come cheer your team on to victory!

8:30 p.m. – Coffee at the Falls – an exclusive event for alumni and parents at Gate Cottage. Enjoy hot drinks with a sweet treat. You will also have the unique opportunity to see Toccoa Falls in lights.
