Biology II

This course gives principles of classical genetics and the major advances of the biotechnological revolution, including recombinant DNA technology, genomic sequencing, and organismal cloning. In addition, divergent theories regarding the origin and diversity of life (i.e., evolutionary vs. creation) are discussed in detail. A zoological survey concludes the lecture portion of the course and assumes central importance in the laboratory via a range of dissections. Three lecture hours and one two-hour lab are held each week. In addition to regular tuition, a laboratory fee of $35 will be charged. Prerequisite: BIO 114.
